our rescued animals
We started over 20 years ago, when a small group of animal lovers took over a piece of state-owned land to care for abandoned animals who had no chance of surviving on the streets.
From there, the work only grew—because the number of abandoned animals kept increasing. Today, our mission includes everything from rescuing animals and nursing them back to health, to spaying/neutering them and finding them loving homes through our weekly adoption fairs held every Saturday in the town square.
We also work hard to educate the public about animal protection laws, the importance of responsible pet ownership, and the need for spaying and neutering.
Right now, we’re caring for nearly 500 animals—dogs and cats.
Our biggest challenge is the lack of resources. Despite the number of animals in our care, we can’t afford to hire staff. We have just a few volunteers, and they’re often unable to visit the shelter regularly.
The local government does provide a small monthly allowance to help us buy food—but it’s not enough. We still struggle to cover medical care, veterinary services, cleaning supplies, and shelter maintenance.
That’s why we constantly organize events and fundraisers throughout the year—selling T-shirts, holiday gift baskets, raffle tickets, and more—to raise the funds we desperately need to keep going.
