Our rehabilitated puppies
We started over 20 years ago with a group of animal protectors who settled on a piece of state-owned land to care for abandoned animals that had no chance of surviving on the streets.
From there, our work kept growing, as the number of abandoned animals multiplied. Our mission involves caring for each rescued animal, providing treatment at the shelter until they’re healthy and neutered, and then taking them to our adoption fairs, held every Saturday in the town square.
Alongside this, we also carry out educational campaigns to raise awareness about animal cruelty laws, the importance of responsible ownership, and neutering.
Today, we care for nearly 500 animals — dogs and cats alike. Our biggest challenge is that, despite the large number of animals, we can’t afford paid staff due to limited resources, and we have only a few volunteers who can rarely come to help.
Even with the monthly support from the city council to buy food, there’s still a huge gap to cover costs such as medication, veterinary care, cleaning supplies, and shelter maintenance. That’s why we organise various fundraising events throughout the year — selling T-shirts, Christmas cakes, chocolate hampers, and raffles — to keep our daily work going.
